To become an environmentalist, take Action at home, and be environmentally
friendly.
To
become an environmentalist it is not enough to take part in the occassional
online environment action with some of the available action groups,
such as Greenpeace and the WWF's Passport Panda program, which allow
you to send pre composed email campaigns (see my page on environment
campaign organisations), though even that would be greatly appreciated,
as some of the campaigns only attract a few thousand participants, which
is a drop in the ocean considering we have a global population of 6
billion plus at this time (2007) and is a great shame.
In
order to safeguard the world and our whole way of life from man made
environmental problems and disasters we must all become environmentalists
as much as we can at home and in the way we live our lives, and set
an example that cannot be ignored.
Of
course this will entail each and every environmentalist to have trained
themselves so that they recognise even the little things that could
be detrimental to the environment in some way and then they would have
to be mindful of the present (to live conscientiously in the moment)
in order to make their enviro footprint as small as possible.
For
example, when you last made a warm drink did you fill your kettle up
to the top when it already had sufficient water in it to make a drink?
Having less water in the kettle means you will use less power to boil
the water for your drink (make sure the kettle's heating element is
at least covered by water)!
We
can't just rely on our government's and business to make the wheels
of society and man made products environmentally friendly. In order
to make the world a better place now and for the future we must take
responsibility for our own actions, as much as possible, whilst we make
Earth our home.
Check
these pages and the news journal for new environment tips and tricks
that will help you become an environmentalist. I'll be looking at ways
you can be environmentally friendly, and still be able to have that
hot drink :).
May the Force
Be With You!
